Why I built this

I spent ten years watching bright children fail a subject they were never taught properly.

In the classroom, I had 40 students, one syllabus, and a timetable that barely allowed me to go back. So I had to teach the CSEC content to children who had a weak foundation in Math, and we all pretended that was normal. These students who were underperforming didn't have learning disabilities. They just needed a system that could fix the foundation. The regular classroom couldn't fix this, because there wasn't time to develop the resources and the system needed. That time instead had to go toward responsibilities outside my area of specialization, Math.

Once I identified the problem, I decided to devote my time and streamline my efforts toward building a system that fixes the foundation and prepares students for the exam. I left my post with the Ministry of Education to build the thing the system can't: small live classes that diagnose the real gap first, fix it, and only then drill exam technique.

"No child sits my class without me knowing exactly which grade their Maths actually stopped at."

What changes

By the 2027 sitting, your child will have

Every Grade 6–8 gap identified by name and closed, not guessed at
Worked every CSEC topic through past papers, sorted by topic instead of by year
A monthly assessment record showing whether the work is actually sticking
Exam technique for the paper itself: timing, method marks, what to skip
The formula sheet memorised, because it was drilled weekly for 9 months
And you will know, every single month, exactly where they stand
Real results

What parents and students are saying

★★★★★

"I wanted to learn math more in depth and understand the formulas thoroughly. I have learned all that is needed for CXC Math and more. I was able to ask questions without feeling ashamed, doubtful, or like a burden. I am confident that I did well on both papers. Thank you for your service, and best of luck!"

"My son wasn't proficient in math, so I wanted to find a way to help him. I found out about your classes, learned the facts, and saw how they had helped others. Now, I'm so proud of him because he went into the exam with confidence and came out even more confident. Thank you so much for your help and patience."

"The lesson was really clear and easy to follow. It was fun to learn. The teacher explained things in a way that made math easier for me to understand. I felt better about my math skills after the lesson. The teacher was very nice and patient. This helped me pay attention and want to keep learning. I think Math Champs is a place to learn math. I would tell everyone to go to Math Champs if they want to get better at math."

"I just want to say a big thank you for your teaching and your guidance with my preparations for the Mathematics CXC! Thank you, I really appreciate it!"

"I just want to say thank you for everything you've done. Your dedication and commitment for us and the classes truly helped. There was even a question about exchange that I was able to answer because of what you taught. I just want to say I'm so incredibly grateful for what you've done, and your teachings and lessons came in clutch for me a lot. What you've done helped me become confident in math and even begin to enjoy doing it. It's unfortunate that we won't be having any more math classes together, but I hope and pray you continue to bless other students with your knowledge."

The difference

Why this isn't the extra lessons you've already paid for

Diagnosis before teaching
Most tutors start at the CSEC syllabus. We start where your child actually is.
Fifteen students, not sixty
Small enough that every child is called on, and silence gets noticed.
The parent is in the loop
You get a monthly written report, not a report card two months too late.
Taught by a former classroom teacher
Ten years inside Jamaican schools and the Ministry, not a part-time tutor.
Built for the 2027 sitting specifically
A 9-month runway, planned backwards from the exam date. Not open-ended lessons.

BEd in Education, specializing in Mathematics and Science

Over ten years teaching CSEC Mathematics in Jamaican secondary classrooms, followed by a period working with the Ministry of Education on curriculum delivery. That combination is the reason this programme is structured the way it is: I've seen the syllabus from the inside and I've seen exactly where children fall off it.

I teach every class myself. There is no bench of assistants.

Questions

Before you message us

Is online tutoring really as effective as in-person lessons?

For CSEC Math, often more effective. Live teaching in groups capped at 15, smaller than most physical classrooms, with every lesson recorded for review and monthly assessments to check understanding along the way.

My child is really behind. Will they be lost?

That's what the free diagnostic assessment is for. We find the actual gaps before week one, so lessons start where your child really is, not where the syllabus assumes. Monthly assessments and WhatsApp updates catch anything slipping early.

What happens if we miss a class?

Every session is recorded and posted the same evening, and the monthly assessment still applies. Repeated absence, though, is when I'll call you.

How is this different from free YouTube videos or past paper websites?

Free content gives you material, not a system. No one checks if it's understood, and there's no one to ask when it's not. Math Champs adds the structure free resources can't offer: live teaching, topic-organized past papers, monthly checks, and a direct report to you.

What equipment does my child need?

A phone, tablet or laptop with a camera, a stable connection for two hours, and an exercise book. Nothing else.

How is the diagnostic assessment done?

A short online paper your child sits at home, then a call with you to walk through what it revealed. It's free and there's no obligation to enrol afterwards.

How do I pay?

Local bank transfer or the payment options we'll confirm on WhatsApp when you enrol.
